Our veterinarians are experts and specialize in spay and neuter surgeries. As a nonprofit organization, our program is based on your individual needs.

Some restrictions may apply, but your ability to pay is not one of them.

  • PRCKC staff members are caring, compassionate and well trained.
  • All pets are monitored throughout recovery.
  • We use dissolving sutures so no return visit is necessary.
  • Animals 7 years or older may need pre-surgical blood work and a pre-exam from our veterinarian. This costs $175, but we may be able to work with you on overall surgery cost.
  • If your pet is older than 10, we will need our DVMs to do a thorough exam through our urgent care first, to ensure that your pet is healthy enough to undergo sedation. See that information here or give us a call at 816-353-0940 opt. 3
  • All animals go home same day of surgery.
  • It is mandatory for all pit bull-type dogs to be spayed and neutered that reside within the Kansas City, Missouri, city limits.
  • Regardless of the type of dog you have, we’ll try to work with you to get a spay/neuter or other assistance your pet needs affordably.

There are many health benefits to spaying or neutering your pet. Pet Resource Center of Kansas City provides this service at an affordable price as well as low cost veterinary services.

Spay & Neuter Health Benefits

Spayed animals no longer feel the need to roam to look for a mate. The result is that they stay home and have less chance of being involved in traumatic accidents such as being hit by a car. They also have a much lower incidence of contracting contagious diseases, and get into fewer fights.

In males, neutering decreases the chances of developing prostatic disease and hernias, and eliminates the chances of developing testicular cancer. It also reduces problems with territorial and sexual aggression, inappropriate urination (spraying) and other undesirable male behaviors.

In Females, spaying decreases the incidence of breast cancer (the rate goes down to almost zero if the spaying is done before the first heat cycle!). It eliminates the chance of developing a serious and potentially fatal infection of the uterus experienced by many mature unspayed animals (pyometra). Spay surgery also eliminates the heat cycle and associated mood swings and undesirable behaviors, messy spotting (in dogs) and the attraction of all available males to your yard.
