I believe that my love for animals started shortly after I was born. My family has a picture of me just a few weeks old in a car seat with my childhood best friend Polly, my German Short Haired Pointer, who was 6 weeks old at the time. As I was growing up, Polly and I were inseparable. We went everywhere and did everything together. My parents knew early on that I was destined to be working with animals. They never once turned down the “can I keep him” request. This resulted with me growing up with dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils, hermit crabs, sugar gliders, fish and later on birds.
Over the years, I have worked in many different fields from food service to retail management, as well as veterinary medicine. I have discovered that working with animals, teaching, training and healing them is what brings me the most fulfillment.
Everyone always says to find something you love and make a career out of it, that way you will never wake up and hate going to work. For me, the work I am doing with PRCKC does exactly this.
At home, my boyfriend, Bryan, and I share our home with what we joke is a small zoo. Our “zoo” consists of: 6 birds, 4 bearded dragons, 2 tortoises, 2 snakes, a leopard gecko, a turtle, 2 fish tanks, and 2 dogs.
