Those skills include name recognition, recall, loose leash walking, “leave it”, and good social skills when meeting new people and other dogs. Through training, you will learn the meaning behind your dog’s behaviors, and will learn how to communicate with your dog. The training experience will build a stronger bond of trust between you and your dog, and will give you the tools you need to respond to or correct your dog’s behavior out in the real world.
Our classes teach positive reinforcement techniques and do not address aggression or extreme behavior modification.
If your dog is exhibiting aggression, fear, or anxiety, we recommend the following:
Christine has been involved with dog rescue since 2009, when she fostered her first Greyhound. Shortly after that she began her volunteer work with a local shelter and began working for that shelter in 2012. From the people who worked and volunteered at the shelter (and the dogs, of course), Christine learned about dog obedience, agility and dealing with dog behavior concerns. She learned how to teach obedience and agility at that organization and loved working with the dogs. She saw the confidence this gave dogs who needed it, and how giving dogs a positive outlet at the shelter helped them find their forever homes. She loved the relationships she built with the dogs, and with their human companions.
Christine continues her volunteer work with local rescue groups and has been working as a veterinary assistant since 2022. She’s excited to combine basic obedience skills and “real life skills” with puppies and their human companions for PRCKC to help start them off on the “right paw”.
Christine’s classes will focus on basic socialization and basic commands. Her goal is to help puppies see the world as a safe, fun place so they can build confidence, listen well, and bond with their families.
