After spending several years in the late 1990’s studying pet nutrition, I founded a company called Bark to Basics, with the goal of bringing high quality pet foods to the Kansas City area. Bark to Basics distributed carefully selected brands of food and treats to independent pet stores looking for healthful options for dogs and cats. Over the next 15 years, the company expanded its reach to include 6 midwestern states; employing 30 people, and operating warehouses in Olathe, KS and Houston, TX. In late 2017, I sold Bark to Basics to a nationwide pet food distributor, and exited the business.
I now spend time supporting various community-service and pet-welfare organizations, including Pet Resource Center of Kansas City, KC Scholars, Rightfully Sewn, The Grooming Project, and KC Regap. I am also an active member of Women Who Mean Business by the Kansas City Business Journal.
In my spare time, I enjoy family, friends and travel. I also loves time at home with my retired racing greyhound and a very energetic corgi-cattle dog mix.
